Survival is the one mode with no food at all. The mode card says it plainly: "No food. Survive. Walls appear every few seconds and your snake keeps growing. Longest time wins."
How a Survival run unfolds
- From 10 seconds in, a new wall appears every 5 seconds. Each one blinks for a second before it becomes solid, so you always get a warning.
- From 45 seconds, the new walls come as two-cell pieces.
- Your snake grows by itself: one cell every 3 seconds for the first 30 seconds, every 2 seconds until the one-minute mark, then every 1.5 seconds.
- The speed steps up every 20 seconds.
The walls are placed from the day's seed, so every player sees the same walls in the same places at the same moments. Your score is the time you stayed alive.
Space is your only resource
With no food to chase, everything is about room to move. Your body grows whether you like it or not, and the arena keeps shrinking as walls land. The aim is to keep a large open area connected and to stay inside it.
Move in wide sweeps rather than tight zigzags. A wide loop lets your tail clear the cells behind you, so you always have a path. Avoid narrow parts of the shape once your snake is long: a corridor that you can only leave the way you came becomes a dead end the moment a wall lands at its far end.
Watch for the blink
A blinking cell is a wall in one second. If it is on your path, change line now, not at the last move. Because the walls are the same for everyone, the warm-up shows you where the early ones land; remember them.
Faster rounds
There is no food to take away, so the round modifier that matters here is "faster": everything moves 12% quicker, and each speed step arrives with less time to think.
A mistake to avoid
Hugging the outer wall. It feels safe, but it gives you only one side to escape to, and a new wall in front of you there leaves nowhere to go. Keep some distance from edges.
