The Hollow is the cave. Around the arena, dark rock rises in tiers towards the edges of the screen, and clusters of crystals catch a cold teal light. The floor is cave stone with patches of moss, and the inner walls are rough ridges of rock that stand up from the floor and cast their own shadows.

Food and light

The food here is the glowcap, a small glowing mushroom that lights the ground around it. Each bite sends a ring of teal light outward, and the crystals it crosses flare as it passes.

Ambient life

The cave is never quite still. Spores drift up from below, water drips from above, bats flit across the rock and glowworms hang and twinkle in the dark. None of it touches the board: it lives in the rock around the arena, not in the cells you play on.

Does it change the game?

No. The biome is only the look. The board, food spots, speed and controls are the same wherever you are, and every biome is checked so the floor stays readable under the snake. The colour-blind setting works here too. The day's biome comes from the date, so everyone plays the same place, and it is never the same biome two days running.
