How to play Snakoff
Snakoff is a free Snake game you play in the browser. It is built around one idea: every day, everyone in the world gets the same arena, and a knockout runs through the day. This guide walks you through your first day, from the first swipe to the final.
The basics of a run
- Steer the snake. Swipe to turn. Keep your finger down and swipe again to turn again. On a computer, the arrow keys or WASD work too.
- Eat as much as you can in 45 seconds. The clock in the corner counts down from 0:45. Your score is the food you ate.
- It speeds up. The snake starts calm and gets faster as the run goes on, so the last seconds are the busiest.
- Don’t crash. Hitting a wall or your own tail ends the run early, and you keep what you ate. For about a second after Go, a crash is forgiven, so a clumsy first swipe won’t cost you.
Warm up, then play the run that counts
Each round gives you one warm-up on that round’s arena. It doesn’t count. Use it to learn the layout: where the inner walls are, where the tight corners are, and how the food spreads out. The food appears in the same spots for every player, so what you learn in the warm-up is real.
Then comes your run. Before the countdown the screen says THIS ONE COUNTS in big letters. You get one try. If you leave the run halfway, it counts as 0, so play it to the end.
After the run, the result screen slides your row up the board to your rank and draws the line. You see either “You’re in” or “Below the line so far”. More players may still play before the round closes, so the line can move.
Four rounds, and the better half goes through
The day has four rounds. When a round closes, everyone who scored at least as much as the player in the middle goes through to the next one. Everyone else is out until tomorrow. Later rounds are harder: Round 2 is faster, Round 3 has one food fewer, and the final has both. Whoever does best in the final wins the day.
Missed Round 1? You can still join a later round, as long as you haven’t played today. If you were through and don’t play the next round, you’re out, so turn on reminders in Settings to hear when a round opens or is about to close.
When you’re out, keep playing
Being knocked out doesn’t end the fun. Home always has two more buttons under the big PLAY:
- Practice: a standard arena, any time, as often as you like, on its own board. It even works offline.
- Endless: no clock. The run lasts until you crash, and it has its own leaderboard.
Every day you play a run that counts grows your streak and earns coins, and coins buy new looks for your snake and your name. That’s the whole game: learn the arena, play one good run, and see how far you get.
